For PLC systems that require weight data from a scale, Rice Lake’s compact SCT-10 transmitter delivers equivalent signal-conditioning function without the cost or bulk of a full-size weight indicator/controller.
Rice Lake's SCT-10 is DIN-rail mountable within a cabinet or control panel, where they convert a scale’s load cell signal to serial or analog output. Technicians and operators find the analog output signal particularly useful for monitoring hopper filling and discharge. Unlike many other signal transmitters, Rice Lake SCTs have their own integrated display, with annunciators for unit and weighing status, and push buttons or toggle switch and digital rotary for zero, tare and setpoint entry—ultimately simplifying scale setup, calibration and operation.

What is:
Fieldbus: is the name of a family of industrial computer network protocols used for real-time distributed control, standardized as IEC 61158. A complex automated industrial system — such as manufacturing assembly line — usually needs a distributed control system—an organized hierarchy of controller systems—to function.
PROFIBUS: (Process Field Bus) is a standard for fieldbus communication in automation technology and was first promoted in 1989 by BMBF (German department of education and research) and then used by Siemens. It should not be confused with the PROFINET standard for Industrial Ethernet.
Modbus: is a serial communications protocol originally published by Modicon (now Schneider Electric) in 1979 for use with its programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Modbus has become a de facto standard communication protocol and is now a commonly available means of connecting industrial electronic devices.
DeviceNet: is a network protocol used in the automation industry to interconnect control devices for data exchange. It utilizes the Common Industrial Protocol over a Controller Area Network media layer and defines an application layer to cover a range of device profiles.
EtherCAT: (Ethernet for Control Automation Technology) is an Ethernet-based fieldbus system, invented by Beckhoff Automation. The protocol is standardized in IEC 61158 and is suitable for both hard and soft real-time computing requirements in automation technology.
CANopen: is a communication protocol and device profile specification for embedded systems used in automation. In terms of the OSI model, CANopen implements the layers above and including the network layer.
EtherNet/IP: (IP = Industrial Protocol) is an industrial network protocol that adapts the Common Industrial Protocol to standard Ethernet.
TCP: (Transmission Control Protocol) is a standard that defines how to establish and maintain a network conversation through which application programs can exchange data. TCP works with the Internet Protocol (IP), which defines how computers send packets of data to each other.
Analog Output: An analog control output signal is used when a device needs to function at more than two points in a range. A common output range for an analog signal is 0-10 volts (other analog signals used commonly are 2-10V, 4-20mA and 0-20mA). A digital control output signal allows a device to operate at only two points.
Load Cells Parallel: Load cells can be connected in parallel; in that case, all the corresponding signals are connected together (Ex+ to Ex+, S+ to S+, ...), and the resulting signal is the average of the signals from all the sensing elements. This is often used in e.g. personal scales, or other multipoint weight sensors.
